About Ocre Galeria
Ocre Galeria is a space dedicated to contemporary art and the promotion of Brazilian visual arts, fostering dialogues across different media and generations.
Founded in May 2022 in the Historic Center of Porto Alegre by Felix Bressan, Nelson Wilbert, and Mara Prates—who, in addition to being a partner, serves as the gallery’s director—Ocre brings together established and emerging artists who work with diverse artistic languages, such as painting, sculpture, photography, video, or installation, with drawing being the most recurrent way of expression among most of them.
Its program articulates exhibitions, research, collections, and initiatives aimed at bringing art closer to the public.
In four years of activity, Ocre has held more than 40 solo and group exhibitions, building a program guided by curatorial excellence and a plurality of voices and perspectives. Along this path, it has expanded its scope beyond the presentation and commercialization of works, investing also in research, documentation, and the preservation of artistic memory.
In January 2025, nearly three years after its foundation, Ocre moved to its new headquarters in the São Geraldo neighborhood, an area that is part of the city’s Creative District. The expansion of the space marked a new chapter in the gallery’s history, opening up new possibilities for exhibitions, gatherings, and other initiatives.
The gallery promotes conversations with artists and curators, guided tours for schools and specific groups, as well as partnerships and exchanges with other galleries, institutions, and art-related professionals, fostering the circulation of ideas, artists, and projects. Research is manifested through curatorial texts, documentation, archiving, and collection exhibitions, contributing to enhancing the knowledge and circulation of the works.
In this way, Ocre links its commercial activity to a cultural dimension, understanding art as experience, thought, heritage, and memory, while fostering the engagement and development of new audiences.
